Iconic Family-Owned Brand Appoints Akimbo Communications as Public Relations Agency of Record & Announces New Leadership

PORTLAND, OR, [August 1, 2021] – Pacific Northwest-based outdoor and workwear brand Kinco® – leaders in manufacturing durable and reliable safety, garden, and thermal gloves – is excited to announce its recent acquisition of Welch® Workwear, and the expanded growth of the company under its reorganized executive team.
The second generation family-owned business, launched in 1975, is led by Robert Potter who was promoted to company CEO after a decade serving the brand as chief operating officer and financial officer. Kinco broadens its reach and product offering with the Welch acquisition, while continuing rapid company growth anchored by significant growth in the farm and home segments.
With the rise in outdoor recreational activities, DIY-trends, and expanded construction across the globe this past year, Kinco sales of safety, garden, ranching and snowsports gloves has grown by 24 percent YTD and the company is proud to have hired 26 new positions since March 2020.
In addition, the brand is pleased to announce its partnership with Akimbo Communications to oversee media relations in North America and further elevate Kinco’s brand awareness to consumers. Effective immediately, Akimbo will collaborate with the brand to communicate and promote Kinco’s iconic product assortment, as well as share company stories and brand initiatives. Founded in 2008 and based in Portland, Oregon, Akimbo Communications specializes in the outdoor, action sports and active lifestyle industries. Kate Gaeir, principal and owner of Akimbo Communications, along with associates Casey Raymer and Jade Schwarting, have over twenty years of experience in public relations, marketing and events, including currently managing media relations for Smith, Boa Technology, HydraPak and others.
